Wholesale Barley Suppliers
Barley is the world's fourth-most produced cereal crop, with wholesale trade valued at approximately $22.9 billion annually. The market divides sharply between malting-grade barley — supplying the global brewing and distilling industry — and feed-grade barley for compound animal feed and bioethanol. Top exporting countries include Russia, France, Australia, Ukraine, Germany, and Canada. Towobo connects wholesale barley buyers with verified exporters offering full quality analysis and commercial terms.

Wholesale barley is classified into three primary commercial grades. Malting-grade barley (also called brewing barley or malt barley) is the premium tier — typically two-row spring barley varieties (Scarlett, Optic, Concerto, Laureate, and newer varieties) grown under controlled agronomic programmes and meeting strict quality thresholds for germination energy, protein content, and freedom from fungal disease. Malting barley commands a 15–30% premium over feed-grade and is sourced by maltsters, breweries, distilleries, and malt extract manufacturers. Feed-grade barley is the bulk trade commodity, used as an energy ingredient in pig, poultry, and cattle compound feed. Feed barley is traded primarily on hectolitre weight (≥62 kg/hl), moisture (≤14.5%), admixture (≤3%), and protein content. Food/pearled barley — where the outer bran layers are removed by pearling — is used for human food applications (barley soup, barley water, whole-grain products) and health food ingredients (beta-glucan content). Food barley commands a premium and requires food-grade handling and certification.
