Water bottling machines fill treated water (still or carbonated) into PET bottles, apply caps, label, and package for distribution. The water bottling line may be configured as: separate machines (depalletiser/bottle unscramblee, rinser, filler, capper, labeller, case packer, palletiser) linked by conveyors; or a monoblock (integrated rinser-filler-capper in one machine), which is more compact and more hygienic for water products. Blow-fill-cap (BFC) monoblock or inline blow-fill-cap: the most hygienic and efficient configuration for high-volume water bottling; the PET preform is heated in an oven, then blown into the final bottle shape in the blow moulding section, immediately transferred to the filling section (without exposure to the environment), filled with water, and capped — all in one integrated machine; the bottle is never exposed to the outside environment between blowing and capping, minimising contamination risk; the standard configuration for large-scale water brands. Separate blow moulder + filling line: the PET blow moulding machine is separate from the filling line; blown bottles are conveyed via an air conveyor to the filling monoblock; more flexibility for running different bottle designs and changing bottle formats; suitable for medium-to-large scale operations. PET preforms — the raw material for blow-moulded PET water bottles; preforms are injection-moulded PET parts that are heated and blown into the final bottle; preforms are sourced from preform manufacturers and stored at the bottling plant. Still water filling: still (non-carbonated) water is filled using gravity, volumetric, or flow-meter fillers; filling is straightforward as the product is non-carbonated and non-viscous; filling speeds of 10,000–100,000+ bottles per hour are standard. Sparkling water filling: carbonated water is filled using an isobaric (counter-pressure) filler — the bottle is first pressurised with CO₂, then the carbonated water is filled against the CO₂ back pressure to prevent loss of carbonation; the filling head seals before the bottle is de-pressurised after capping.
