Complete tea processing lines — process chain

A complete tea processing line covers all stages from fresh green leaf intake to dry finished tea ready for packing. For orthodox black tea: leaf weighing and withering (on withering troughs with air forced through the leaf mass until target moisture is reached); rolling (orthodox rolling machines in multiple stages with roll-breaking between stages); fermentation (the rolled leaf mass is spread on fermentation tables or conveyed through a fermentation tunnel — temperature and humidity controlled — until the target degree of oxidation is achieved); drying (continuous trough dryer — the fermented leaf is fired at high temperature to halt fermentation and dry to the target moisture); sorting (vibrating screens, fibre extractors, and colour sorting to produce finished grades); weighing and packing. For CTC black tea: the same withering, then CTC rolling machines, fermentation, drying, and sorting. For green tea: the addition of a kill-green (fixation) stage between leaf reception and rolling, using steam or pan-fixing, to inactivate enzymes and prevent fermentation before rolling and drying.
