Edible oil filling machines are the core equipment in any cooking oil bottling or packaging operation. They meter a defined volume or weight of liquid oil into each container — whether a 500ml retail bottle, a 5L jerry can, or a 20L catering cubitainer. The right filling technology depends on container format, desired accuracy, production speed, and capital budget.

Volumetric (piston or rotary) filling: The most common filling principle for liquid edible oils. A piston or rotary valve dispenses a pre-set volume of oil per fill cycle. Accuracy is typically ±0.5–2% by volume. Piston fillers are simple, lower cost, and well-suited for viscous or foam-prone oils. Rotary volumetric fillers handle higher speeds with multiple fill heads operating simultaneously. Suitable for all standard cooking oil viscosities.

Gravimetric (weigh) filling: Fill quantity is controlled by weight rather than volume. More accurate than volumetric (typically ±0.2–0.5% by weight) but mechanically more complex. Gravimetric filling is used where product value or regulatory requirements demand tighter fill accuracy, or where density variation between batches is significant enough to affect volumetric accuracy. Used in premium oil production (EVOO, specialty oils) and in markets where net weight declarations are strictly enforced.
