Colombia's palm oil production regions span four distinct zones: the Eastern Region (Meta and Casanare, Llanos Orientales — the largest production zone); the Central Region (Santander and Norte de Santander); the Northern Region (Magdalena, Cesar, Atlántico, and La Guajira); and the Western Region (Nariño). Each zone has distinct soil, climate, and logistics characteristics.
Sustainability is a growing focus: Colombia has a significant RSPO-certified supply base, with Cenipalma (Centro de Investigación en Palma de Aceite) supporting sector-wide sustainability and productivity research. However, some areas of Colombian palm oil production, particularly in Meta and Casanare departments near Amazonian biomes, carry EUDR deforestation risk that buyers must verify through plantation geolocation and deforestation maps. Colombian suppliers exporting to the EU from late 2025 must comply with EUDR due diligence requirements.
Major Colombian palm oil companies include: Aceites Manuelita; Indupalma (part of the Daabon Group, RSPO-certified); Grupo Oleoflores; Palmeras de la Costa; and several cooperatives of smallholder growers. Colombia produces a full range of products including CPO, palm kernel oil (PKO), RBD palm olein, and stearin.
