Spice and herb processing machinery handles the preparation of raw dried spices and herbs into finished ground, crushed, or whole-spice consumer and food service products. A typical spice processing line includes: incoming raw material inspection and cleaning (removing stones, stems, and foreign material using air classifiers, destoners, and vibrating screens); drying (reducing moisture to the target level for safe grinding and storage — typically below 10–12% moisture); size reduction (primary and secondary grinding using hammer mills, pin mills, disc mills, and impact pulverisers to achieve the target particle size); sifting and classification (removing oversize particles); blending (for seasoning and spice blend production — ribbon blenders, paddle blenders, and rotary drum blenders); filling and packing (sachets, jars, pouches). Spice grinding generates fine, combustible organic dust — dust explosion risk management (ATEX compliance, dust extraction, earthing, controlled spark generation environments) is a serious safety requirement that must be built into the plant design from the outset.
