Conveyors connect and integrate the individual machines on a packaging line — transferring products between fillers, cappers, labellers, cartoners, case packers, and palletisers at the correct speed and orientation. Belt conveyors: a continuous flat or modular belt driven by a motor; the most versatile and widely used conveyor for general packaging line applications; flat-top rubber or PVC belts for cartons, pouches, and bagged products; modular plastic belt (interlocking plastic modules) for food applications requiring wash-down cleaning; suitable for horizontal and incline/decline runs. Slat chain conveyors: a conveyor made of flat metal or plastic slats mounted on a chain; the standard for bottle and can conveyors in beverage production; stainless steel slat chains for wash-down food and beverage environments; allows products to accumulate (live accumulation) and buffer between machines without product damage. Roller conveyors: unpowered (gravity) or powered rollers carry products; for cases, totes, and heavy cartons in warehouse and distribution; powered roller conveyors with individually controlled zones (ZPA — zone pressure accumulation) allow smart accumulation without product-to-product contact. Air (air-jet, air-blow) conveyors: a single-file conveyor that carries empty PET bottles or cans by directing air jets against the bottle neck ring or can flange, suspending and propelling the containers; standard for high-speed empty container conveyance in beverage lines at speeds up to 90,000+ bottles per hour; requires no physical contact with the bottle body, preventing contamination. Spiral conveyors (vertical helical conveyor): a helix-shaped belt conveyor that elevates or lowers products continuously in a small footprint; used when line height changes require a continuous, high-throughput vertical transfer (e.g. elevating cartons from a ground-floor filling line to a mezzanine level case packer). Accumulation conveyors: conveyors that allow products to accumulate or buffer between machines — essential to absorb speed differences and downtime between upstream and downstream machines; mass accumulation tables (rotary tables) and linear accumulation lanes are both used.
