PP (polypropylene) snap-lid containers are injection-moulded food containers with matching lids that snap, clip, or screw onto the container body — providing a secure closure for food storage, portioning, and transport. PP is the preferred material for food containers used in microwave and dishwasher applications: PP has a heat deflection temperature of approximately 100–115°C, making it suitable for microwave heating, and is rated dishwasher-safe in appropriate grades. Container shapes available include round (the most common format for catering, portions, and deli applications), rectangular (more shelf-space-efficient for retail and food service), square, and compartmented (school meals, aircraft catering, ready-meal formats). Lid fit types include snap-on lids (a continuous bead that snaps over the container rim — quick to apply and remove), clip-on lids (with tab clips on the sides for a more secure closure — used for containers that may be tilted or inverted in transport), and screw-on lids (threaded neck — maximum leak resistance for liquid-rich contents). PP material grades matter: homopolymer PP is stiffer but less impact-resistant and may be more brittle at low temperatures; copolymer PP (random or block) has better impact resistance, greater flexibility, and is the standard for food containers that must remain functional from freezer temperatures to microwave temperatures. For food applications, PP containers must comply with EU Regulation 10/2011 or FDA 21 CFR and the manufacturer must provide a Declaration of Compliance.
