A multihead combination weigher (also called a combination scale or multihead scale) achieves high-speed accurate weighing by simultaneously considering the individual weight of product in multiple weighing buckets and selecting the combination of buckets whose total is closest to the target weight. In a typical 14-head machine operating at 60 bags per minute, the computer evaluates thousands of possible bucket combinations per second, selects the closest combination, and simultaneously discharges those buckets through a central chute into the waiting bag below. The result is high fill accuracy (typically ±0.5–1g regardless of target weight) at high throughput.
