Jet dyeing (high-temperature, HTT): fabric ropes propelled by pressurised dye liquor at 130–140°C — standard for polyester and blends; low liquor ratio (1:4–1:8) saves water and dye. Overflow dyeing: gentle fabric handling at atmospheric pressure — preferred for delicate knit fabrics and microfibre; higher liquor ratio (1:10–1:15). Beam dyeing: fabric wound on perforated beam; ideal for warp sizing, delicate fabrics. Pad-dry-cure (continuous range): for reactive and pigment dyeing of woven fabric at large volume — highest productivity, lowest cost per metre for long runs.

Stentering (pin/clip stenter): sets fabric width, dries, and applies finishing chemicals (softeners, water-repellents, flame retardants) — critical quality control step. Sanforizing: pre-shrinks woven fabric mechanically using rubber blanket compaction — eliminates post-wash shrinkage to <1%; mandatory for denim and cotton shirting. Mercerizing: sodium hydroxide treatment of cotton yarn or fabric — improves lustre, strength (+20%), and dye uptake; used for premium shirting and knit. Calendering: pressure and heat finish for smoothness, glaze, or embossed effects.

ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) programme sets chemical input standards for dyeing and finishing. ZDHC MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substance List) covers dye inputs, auxiliaries, and process chemicals. Buyers sourcing from factories supplying H&M, Inditex, PVH, or other ZDHC brand signatories must ensure dyehouse compliance. Key certifications: ZDHC Level 1/2/3 Gateway, Bluesign (process standard), OEKO-TEX STeP (Sustainable Textile & Leather Production) for facility certification.
