Trova fornitori di olio di colza →German rapeseed oil production: processors, regions, and EU regulatory framework
Germany cultivates approximately 3–4 million tonnes of rapeseed (Brassica napus) annually, primarily in the northern German lowlands — Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, and Schleswig-Holstein are the primary production regions. These flat, fertile regions with cool, wet winters provide ideal conditions for winter rapeseed varieties that are sown in August–September and harvested July–August of the following year. Germany also sources additional canola/rapeseed from Poland, France, and UK via the Rhine–Main–Danube corridor and North Sea ports. Germany's crushing industry is among Europe's most developed: key processors include ADM Hamburg GmbH (one of Germany's largest single-site crushers, Hamburg — processes both domestic and imported seed), Bunge Germany (Mannheim and Hamburg operations), Cargill GmbH (Germany operations processing seed from multiple origins), BayWa AG (Munich-based but with nationwide grain handling and processing operations), Toepfer International (Hamburg — a major German grain and oilseed trader, now part of BayWa), and Raiffeisen-Waren-Zentrale Rhein-Main (RWZ — farmer co-operative processing operations). The Hamburg–Mannheim corridor contains the bulk of Germany's oilseed processing capacity. All German rapeseed oil is fully EU-compliant: EU Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008 (flavourings), EU Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 (pesticide MRLs), EU Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 (contaminant limits), and EU Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 (food labelling). Germany is a member of the ISTA (International Seed Testing Association) and the Quality Certification for German Oilseeds (QS) programme applies to rapeseed and rapeseed oil from registered producers. German producers can readily supply IFS Food and BRC-certified rapeseed oil for EU retail supply chains.
