FIBC (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container) bags — commonly called jumbo bags, bulk bags, or big bags — are large industrial bags used for storing and transporting dry flowable bulk products such as agricultural commodities (grains, seeds, flour, sugar), chemicals, minerals, fertilisers, construction materials, and plastic pellets. FIBCs are constructed from woven polypropylene fabric — the fabric is woven from flat or fibrillated PP tape yarns, producing a strong, lightweight, breathable fabric that can be coated or lined to provide dust-tight or moisture-barrier performance. Key FIBC specification parameters are: safe working load (SWL) — the rated maximum load per bag (typically 500kg, 1,000kg, 1,500kg, or 2,000kg); the bag is designed with a safety factor of 5:1 or 6:1 over SWL. Bag dimensions — width × length × height of the body (standard and custom dimensions available; square and circular cross-section). Lift loops — standard four-corner loops (most common for forklift handling); single-loop (coil) designs; and cross-corner loops. Top filling configuration — open top, spout top (a circular filling inlet), or duffle top. Bottom discharge configuration — flat bottom (no discharge), spout bottom with drawstring, or full-open bottom. Liner type — unlined (breathable, for dry non-moisture-sensitive products), PE liner (for dust-tight or moisture-sensitive products), aluminium foil liner (for oxygen-sensitive products), or anti-static liner. Antistatic FIBC classification (CROSSTEX/EFTA standard): Type A (no antistatic properties — for non-flammable products only); Type B (breakdown voltage controlled — for flammable powders in non-flammable atmospheres); Type C (conductive — electrically grounded in use — for explosive atmospheres); Type D (static dissipative — no grounding required — for explosive atmospheres where grounding is impractical).
