Spain: the world's largest olive oil producer and major sunflower oil supplier

Spain is the world's largest producer of olive oil, accounting for approximately 40–50% of global production in an average year. The producing heartland is Andalucía, which generates approximately 75% of Spain's total olive oil production — concentrated in the provinces of Jaén (the single largest olive oil producing province in the world), Córdoba, Seville, Granada, and Málaga. Key Spanish olive oil DOP (Denominación de Origen Protegida) designations include: Priego de Córdoba, Baena, Sierra de Cazorla, Sierra Mágina, Estepa, Sierra de Segura, and Les Garrigues (Catalonia), among others.
